From Broome safari leader Maeve: Our June 2011 Gorgeous girls were such a wonderful group- we had lots of sisters and mothers and daughters and a few singles who all blended in together beautifully – in fact this group loved the experience of being together so much that they’ve decided they need to do it again so I’m now putting together a special new Gorgeous safari for them – in New Zealand!

We timed our safari for the amazing natural phenomenon called The Staircase to the Moon – which happens at full moon during the middle months of the year – we were perfectly planned to take our seats as if for theatrical performance – a whole line of comfortable chairs arranged on one of Broome’s few high spots, away from the crowds, looking into the blackness towards the eastern horizon...as our French champagne was being poured and canapes served, we caught a glimpse of a rosy glow on the horizon...and then...the most spectacular huge red moon rose slowly above the mangroves. The staircase effect happens when the full moon rises on a low tide and the water caught in the puddles on the mudflats resembles a set of shimmering golden stairs.  It was a wonderful moment...so good it was a natural phenomenon with no music or fanfare, just an extraordinary sight that we were all so glad to share.

That on top of a week of luxurious spa treatments, fabulous accommodation and meals, a spectacular camel ride along Cable Beach, a visit to a pearl farm and great girl moments at the Paspaley store as we tried on some of the most gorgeous pearls in the world – which we later borrowed for our Girls and Pearls final dinner – all up we were worth over $1 million...and we look it too don’t you think?

We just loved Ronaldo who looked after us at every turn, pouring champagne before our sunset camel rise, serving canapes before the spectacular moon rise, genuinely keen to make sure we were looked after and had fun. We loved the mix of organised events and relaxation – we also loved Pinctada Resort and the spa...everything was very well organised. Definitely value for money! Elly Comino
